This intriguing winery is owned by Chateau Ausone, the greatly celebrated St. Emilion estate. The pursuit of excellence is as evident in Chateau Ausone as it is here at Fonbel, but the wines are very different. With Ausone dominated by Cabernet Franc and complemented by Merlot, Fonbel is very different with Merlot heading the way, and an unusually high amount of Petit Verdot and Carmenere added to the blend. Great wine, superbly drinking today.
