Jim Barry, The Armagh, Clare Valley, Australia, 750ml
Jim Barry was the first qualified winemaker in the region having graduated as only the 17th student to gain a Degree in Oenology at the prestigious Roseworthy Agricultural College back in 1947. Having worked for 2 decades at the Clarevale Co-operative, he then went on to establish Taylors Wines in 1969. The Armagh has a very complex nose of ripe, red and blackcurrants, black cherries accented by hints of aniseed, beef, fertile earth and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, the mouthfilling and intense palate has elegant earthy and savoury nuances seamlessly intertwined with pure fruit and shaped by ripe, rounded tannins, balanced freshness and a very long, structured finish.
